FOR SAFE ROADS CITY DEMANDS AUTHORIZATION

`Dimitrija Tucovica` street in Palilula Municipality, especially part at the Railway station, is called a "black spot" for pedestrians. In early April of this year, at this point the bus killed 81-year-old woman, in January the car hit the 52-year-old pedestrian in the crosswalk, just a month earlier taxi driver at the crossing in front of the Post killed a pedestrian. In November last year, also at the 63 year old pedestrian was hit, while in June a teeneager was severely injured.

All along the street, which spreads from the Court of Appeal to the KP Dom, during the last year in traffic were killed two people, 8 difficult and 23 were slightly injured. The problem is that it is a junction that is under the jurisdiction of the Republic of Serbia, or of the "Roads of Serbia", they say in Palilula Municipality. In order to increase the safety of pedestrians and drivers in Dimitrije Tucovica street, the City of Niš has sent a request to this junction to exceed the jurisdiction of the city. Now, according to City councilor Mihajlo Zdravkovic, everything depends on the administration. Until then, it remains only a police control, who, as they say in PU Niš, it have been on higher level since the beginning of this year.

Because speeding, in 2014, in the "Dimitrije Tucovica" street were issued 328 sentences while, just from the beginning of this year, penalized more 40 drivers. In Nis police administration say they requested from the competent authority of the City to provide a setting speed bump, and from the Directorate for the construction to improve street lighting.
